UNITING THE COMPETITION TO BENEFIT THE COMMUNITY

Building a health care facility from the ground up is a complex process that involves negotiations with public officials, transition planning, and the complete oversight of design and construction. The dynamic process in bringing together several entities, each with its own needs and agenda, is precisely the type of challenge on which Frauenshuh Companies has built its reputation.

Shakopee and its surrounding communities have experienced a steady increase in population and a subsequent need for quality healthcare service. The current hospital was not a modern facility, unable to meet changing patient needs and would not accommodate expansion. The idea to create a shared medical campus among a group of health care providers evolved.

Frauenshuh Companies collaborated with Allina Health System and the Benedictine Health System (owners of St. Francis Regional Medical Center) and Park Nicollet Medical Center to develop the SouthValley Health Campus, a state-of-the-art medical campus that met the needs of the community as well as the specifications of each health care entity.

The unique partnership created a new $30 million medical campus that included a 124,000 square foot community hospital with expanded outpatient area, a new 23,000 square foot Park Nicollet Clinic and a 40,000 square foot multi-tenant medical office building. The campus also includes a 70,000 square foot skilled nursing facility. Despite the many challenges, the partners proved that careful planning, along with astute resourceful teamwork, equals success.
